Monkey King is a hard-rocking, high-flying, action musical. Featuring a cast of over 60 singers, dancers, acrobats, musicians and martial artists- the show tells the story of a monk's quest to recover a sacred relic. His journey sees him joined by unlikely warrior companions, beset by demons and monsters, and matching wits with kings and gods. The epic narrative is played out through a series of breath-taking kung fu battles, spellbinding dance sequences and an original, driving rock score. A classic tale based on the Chinese fable Journey to the West, Monkey King is a raucous, high energy musical filled with important truths about friendship and self. The production's songs are performed in the original Chinese with English subtitles. ![]() Light the Spirit of Delta About Preparations are underway to celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay. The torch will pass through North Delta in the morning and, in the afternoon, Tsawwassen, Tsawwassen First Nation and Ladner. There will be many opportunities for residents to cheer on the torchbearers and celebrate Delta's Olympic spirit. Cultural perfomances along the Torch route will add to the daytime festivities culminating in a celebration at Municipal Hall in Ladner as the torch leaves Delta. An exhibition game between the Olympic Women's Hockey teams from Finland and Slovakia will take place at Sungod Recreation Centre at 7:00 pm. Community groups, Delta's Spirit of BC Community Committee, the School District and municipal staff are working together to ensure that all Delta citizens have opportunities to be involved in this historic day.
