Light the Spirit of Delta
Preparations are underway to celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay. The torch will pass through North Delta in the morning and, in the afternoon, Tsawwassen, Tsawwassen First Nation and Ladner. There will be many opportunities for residents to cheer on the torchbearers and celebrate Delta's Olympic spirit. Cultural perfomances along the Torch route will add to the daytime festivities culminating in a celebration at Municipal Hall in Ladner as the torch leaves Delta.
An exhibition game between the Olympic Women's Hockey teams from Finland and Slovakia will take place at Sungod Recreation Centre at 7:00 pm.
Community groups, Delta's Spirit of BC Community Committee, the School District and municipal staff are working together to ensure that all Delta citizens have opportunities to be involved in this historic day.
